Financial Services Representatives Pay Courtesy Call On Minister Of Financial Services

Financial services industry representatives of The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) and The Association of International Banks and Trust Companies (AIBT) paid a courtesy call on Hon. T. Brent Symonette Minister of Financial Services, Trade and Industry and Immigration on May 19th, 2017.

Industry leaders outlined the key priorities for the sector and committed to continued collaboration to ensure the sustained growth and development of the sector. On the agenda were international initiatives, immigration policy and the strategic measures needed to reposition the jurisdiction from offshore to midshore. The Chairman of BFSB, Mrs. Antoinette Russell stated that “We welcomed the opportunity to meet with Mr. Symonette and to apprise him on the areas that require policy focus for the sector. It is particularly important that we do not lose momentum with respect to the international initiatives that we are facing.”

The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB), launched in April 1998, represents an innovative commitment by the financial services industry and the Government of The Bahamas to promote a greater awareness of The Bahamas’ strengths as an international financial centre. Miss Tanya McCartney, CEO and Executive of BFSB indicated that “BFSB looks forward to continued collaboration with the government on the critical issues facing the financial services sector.”
