The Association of International Banks and Trusts Companies (AIBT) is the representative body for banks and trust companies operating in The Bahamas. Founded in 1976, AIBT accepts a wide mandate to represent the industry in its dealings with The Government, industry regulators and comparable foreign associations.

Through its Code of Conduct, AIBT articulates best business practices for its membership in keeping with the jurisdiction’s standing as a premier international financial centre. In addition, AIBT maintains a strong commitment to social issues with a particular focus on training local Bahamian staff and the promotion of Bahamas financial services.

The AIBT is the Founding Partner of The Nassau Conference, the leading professional development event held annually that brings together industry professionals, government officials, regulators and students to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. Through the Nassau Conference Initiative, the AIBT and partners, also coordinate industry internships both at home and abroad.

AIBT is committed to representing the needs, and being the voice, of the industry and undertakes regular ongoing dialogue with key Ministers and departments of Government about matters of importance to our Members. We maintain active relationships with other industry bodies and regulators to ensure that our Members stay connected to developments on all fronts of this vital sector and that, collectively, we have a seat at the table.

The Nassau Conference is a premier professional development event dedicated to preparing and enhancing Bahamian professionals for continued success in the industry. The annual event underscores AIBT’s ongoing commitment, as Founding Partner, to the continued development and growth of the sector and its professionals. The Conference is the centerpiece of our wider Nassau Conference Initiative that includes our annual Summer Internships programme and Six-Week Language Immersion for qualified students and young professionals.

It means a commitment to education at the AIBT. For the thousands of Bahamian employees of our member firms. For young Bahamians seeking advanced technical skills. For students at the College of The Bahamas. We fulfill this commitment through sponsored training programs for our member firms, our support for the Financial Community Advanced Educational Trust for Bahamians (FCATET) and our involvement with the College of The Bahamas.
